One of the seven districts composing the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway (a greenspace circle that circles Minneapolis), the Chain of Lakes is one of the area’s most scenic spaces. The park was formed in the early 20th century as part of an effort to preserve Mineappolis´ lakes. The Chain of Lakes consists of Lake Harriett, Lyndale Park, Lyndale Farmstead, Lake Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, Cedar Lake and Brownie Lake.

Visitors to the park have a number of recreation options available. Some may prefer to walk along the winding paths beside the lake. Others may hop into a canoe or ride the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line. Nature lovers will really enjoy the Bird Sanctuary, Rose Gardens and Peace Gardens near Lake Harriet.

The Chain of Lakes is one of the most beautiful areas of Minneapolis, proof of why Minnesota is known as “The Land of 1,000 Lakes.”
