Located at the center of Observatory Park, and operated by the University of Denver, the Chamberlin Observatory was built in 1890 following a grant received by real estate magnate Humphrey B. Chamberlin two years prior. The Observatory was designed based on the famous Goodsell Observatory at Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and features a 20-inch Alvan Clark-Saegmuller light refractor.

In addition to its academic use at the University of Denver, the Chamberlin Observatory is used for continuing and community education programs, as well as for special events put on by the Denver Astronomical Society. In addition to various special events throughout the course of the year, the Chamberlin Observatory hosts a monthly open house monthly, on the Saturday nearest the first quarter moon. Admission is $3, and open house nights are open to everyone, with Denver Astronomical Society members on hand to answer questions and help the public with the operation of the Observatory telescope, or their personal telescopes.

The Observatory Park is located at 2930 East Warren Avenue in Denver, just four blocks east of the University of Denver campus, and a short distance away from Washington Park and Cherry Creek. Parking is available at the park free of charge.
