Krämerbrüecke or Kramer Bridge is a unique structure in the city of Erfurt in Germany for this bridge is not just a typical bridge. The Kramer Bridge is a footbridge with inhabited houses on its sides. These houses are half-timbered in which timbers are joined together with a mortise and tenon joints; Germany has many half-timbered houses which also attracts tourists.

With a total of 32 houses on its sides, the Kramer Bridge is the longest inhabited bridge throughout the Northern Alps. And it was built for many centuries giving this bridge a historical importance. The first bridge built on the site was made of wood in the 12th century and in the 14th century, it became a stonebridge with churches on its gates. Additions were made until the 19th century. To be in its well-maintained state, the bridge has been reconstructed many times especially after the war.

At present, visitors can see visit the houses which are mostly antique and artisan’s shops that target visiting tourists. Most of the buildings are owned by the local government of Erfurt.
