Singapore Changi Airport is considered as one of the most important air transits in the whole of Southeast Asia. It is the main and only commercial airport in Singapore and is located at the northeast part of the island.

In 2007, Changi airport accommodated almost 37 million passengers and travel activities. It became the 19th busiest aviation hub in the world and 5th active airport in Asia. It also became the busiest cargo transport that same year carrying almost 2 million tons of cargo. Managed and run by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore or CAAS, Changi Airport has attracted hundreds of international airlines all over the world.

The airport formally opened in 1981. Since 1987 until 2007, it earned 280 awards and fulfilled its benchmark for excellent service. Its continuous efforts in upgrading and building modern facilities plus offering the highest level of customer service finally earned its 19 Best Airport awards in 2007 alone.

In 2008, Changi Airport operated 4,340 weekly flights to 130 city destinations in 59 countries worldwide. The airport provides the highest financial contribution to the Singapore economy. At least 13,000 locals and foreign workers are employed, enjoying travel benefits as well.
