By far the busiest airport in South Carolina, Charleston International Airport handles the most amount of flights in and out of what is the state's busiest city. A joint civil-military airport, the airport offers extensive regional service to the southeast, as well as operating a growing number of national and even some international flights.

The airport consists of a main terminal as well as two separate concourses, which due to the airport's relatively compact size, are easy to navigate and reach for connecting flights. A number of popular airlines fly in and out of Charleston International Airport, including Delta, United Airlines, AirTran, Continental, and US. Additionally, Delta, US, and United offer a myriad of their smaller regional shuttle service.

A number of daily non-stop flights leave Charleston International Airport each day for Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida, as well as Cleveland. The airport estimates operating many more non-stop flights in the future, as the airport is quickly growing as one of the main hubs of travel for the southeastern United States.

The building itself is recently renovated, and one of the nicer and more modern small airports in the region. Getting from the airport to the city proper is easy, with extensive taxi service, as well as a number of on-site rental agencies for travelers who plan on renting a car. Additionally, many hotels are conveniently located near the airport, including The Hilton Garden Inn, as well as a number of Holiday Inn locations in between the city and the airport.
