One of South Carolina's best kept secrets, Charles Town landing marks the site of the very first English settlement in the state. Today the landing serves as a beautiful and historical public park. It spans eighty acres and features an abundance of indigenous plant life. Visitors to the park will truly feel as if they have stepped back in time upon entering the park's 17th century style village. The unique buildings are replicas of those that would have been utilized by the original settlers. Also on the property, are numerous exhibits created by internationally recognized naturalist, Jim Fowler. Visitors will meet animals that would have been local to the area in the latter part of the 17th century. Whether one is looking for a day of leisure and relaxation, or a trip through history, Charles Town Landing is one sight in South Carolina that is not to be missed.

The park is open daily from 9 a.m.-5p.m. Entrance costs $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, and is free for children.
