The Charlotte Museum of History and Hezekiah Alexander Homesite (www.charlottemuseum.org) seeks to share the stories of the Charlotte region through various exhibits and programs. It includes several artifacts and collections, including the 1774 Hezekiah Alexander Homesite – the oldest house in Mecklenburg County still in existence today. It is comprised of multiple venues on an eight-acre area in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The museum is the home of many permanent exhibits, including Settlement in the Backcountry and Solving the Rock House Mysteries. Other exhibits change over time. Past examples include Charlotte Neighborhoods and The Carolina Mountains: Photography of Margaret Morley. Several educational programs are available for both children and adults such as tours and summer camps.

Open From Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m., the museum also hosts tours of the Alexander Homesite at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. daily. Admission is $6.00 and under (September 2009), and parking is free. There are no restaurants located on-site, but visitors are encouraged to have picnics or head to one of many great restaurants near the museum. The Golden Green Hotel and the Econo Lodge are located nearby for those wishing to stay close to the site.
