Che Kung Miu

The Che Kung Miu is also known as the Che Kung Temple. It was built in honor of the Song Dynasty general, Che Kung. He was once considered as a military commander but later evolved to being recognized as a god. Legends say that he was not only a successful suppressor of revolts and uprising but at one time he saved people from sickness and epidemics in their communities which led to the creation of Che Kung Temples in his honor.

There are two temples that have been built for him. One of these is located in Tai Wai, Sha Tin district. This temple is the most famous temple in Hong Kong, especially during the Lunar New Year when thousands of people come to visit. The original temple was built in the Ming dynasty and renovated in the 19th century.

The other temple is located near the Ho Chung River and is considered one of the oldest buildings in Hong Kong. It is also located near the Ho Chung Village whose residents believe that the temple has been blessing them for years. These two temples are considered as two of the most historic buildings in Hong Kong.

The temple at Sha Tin is open to visitors from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The nearest means of public transport is from the Tai Wai Station Che Kung Temple exit and is a walking time of ten minutes. Nearby hotels are The Royal Park Hotel and Regal Riverside Hotel.
