Construction of Cheesman Park, in Denver Colorado, once a cemetery, began in 1894. Cheesman Park, so named after Denver pioneer Walter Cheesman (after the donation of a marble pavilion by Gladys and Mrs. Walter Cheesman) was designed by Denver landscape architect Reinhard Schuetze. Today the park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Given its macabre role in history as a cemetery, it is also quite popular amongst the ghost-hunting crowd! However, the majority of visitors simply go to enjoy the sunshine, the beautiful landscaped grounds and Rocky Mountain vista, play with their children and pets, or just take a midday stroll.
