Architecture buffs and those fascinated in Chicago's history shouldn't miss a chance to visit The Chicago Cultural Center, one of the city's landmarks and a building with a significantly rich history. As one of the city's most popular attractions, it's not uncommon in tourist season for their to be waiting lines, so be prepared and plan accordingly.

Designed by a Boston architectural firm, The Chicago Cultural Center was completed in 897 and includes a number of ornate flourishes, including the stained glass dome, intricate mosaics, and an incredibly decadent gallery designed in homage to an assembly hall in Doge's Palace, Venice.

The Chicago Cultural Center isn't just worth visiting for the building. A number of traveling exhibitions have made their home here, mostly extensive art exhibitions from other countries. One of the most popular was Crossroads: Modernism in Ukraine, 1910-1930. which featured a significant overview of the paintings of Ukrainian artists. A number of exhibits here have international flair, including more recently The Big World: Recent Art From China.

The Chicago Cultural Center is open every day except for on holidays. Monday through Thursday, visitors can explore from eight in the morning until seven in the evening. Fridays the museum is open from eight until six, Saturdays from nine until six, and on Sundays, The Chicago Cultural Center is open from ten until six.
