Located at 175 North State Street in Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago Theatre is one of the several historic theatres dotting the Windy City, residing in the loop area of the city. Originally constructed in 1921, the theater was the principal piece of the famous Balaban and Katz group of theaters, which between the decade of the 1920s and the 1940s mainly showed cinema movies.

Today, however, the Chicago Theatre is a venue for theatrical performances, live music concerts, magic shows, comedy sketches, and all kinds of speeches, lectures, etc. In 1985 the building had fallen into such disrepair that it was at the point of being demolished. Fortunately, this ornate and imposing French-baroque style building (which captures a part of Chicago's soul) was saved from this ill fate in 1986 by the Chicago Theatre Restoration Associates along with backing from the city government. Over nine months, an in-depth restoration of the theater was executed, bringing it into the current impeccable state it displays to visitors.
