This non-profit museum also brings in special exhibitions from time to time, including the highly popular Lego Experience.

For older children or teenagers, there are a number of activities that will be of interest, too, including Dance Dance Revolution, a TEEN Virtual Reality Game, and a Cybermatrix. Some of the most popular exhibits that are permanent at The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada are the forced balloon and vertical fan, the classic distortion mirrors, and the Gravitron.

In addition to exhibits, The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada also has a quieter, calmer section where permanent collections are displayed. Model train buffs will delight at the HO train collection, while others will enjoy the vast display of mineral rocks as well as the vintage rocking horse collection.
