Known as the Heart of Portland, Old Town Chinatown Portland is located in the northwest and southwest portions of the city. The Chinatown subdivision of this section of Portland extends north from West Burnside Street to Union Station, with Northwest Broadway serving as the western border, and the Willamette River bounding the neighborhood on the east.

While smaller than the Chinatown neighborhoods of other major metropolitan areas of the Pacific Northwest such as San Francisco and Vancouver, Chinatown Portland does boast a number of notable attractions. Chief amongst these are the Chinatown Gate, which stretches over Northwest Fourth Avenue at West Burnside Street, and the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, located on Northwest Everett Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues. The Classical Chinese Gardens consume an entire city block, and were developed by artists native to Suzhou, China.

Chinatown Portland is within easy walking distance of other Portland landmarks including North Park, the Deschutes Brewery, and the Oregon Convention Center, and a short drive from Downtown Portland, the Portland Art Museum, and South Waterfront City Park.
