The New Chitose Airport is a public airport located near Chitose and Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan; it serves the Sapporo Metropolitan Area. Chitose Airport served the area until 1988 when the new airport started its operations; the former is now called as the Chitose Air Base and is operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

The New Chitose Airport terminal is operated by the Hokkaido Airport Terminal Co., Ltd. while the airfield is operated by the Ministry of Transport. It is the largest airport in Hokkaido in terms of land area and has served more than 18,500,000 passengers in financial year 2006, making it the third busiest airport in Japan. The airport is also the first 24-hour airport in the country.

Domestic airlines operating in the airport are Air Do, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and Skymark Airlines while the international airlines are Air China, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Continental Airlines, EVA Air, Hong Kong Express Airways, Korean Air, and Sakhalin Airlines.

Facilities in the airport include ATMs, foreign currency exchange, Internet lounge, dry cleaning service, shops and convenience stores, kidís park, nursery, salons, and medical clinics.
