Cho Dong Xuan Market

Hotels near Cho Dong Xuan Market, Hanoi, Vietnam .

The oldest and grandest market in Hanoi, Cho Dong Xuan also known as Dong Xuan Market is located at Dong Xuan Street at the end of Hang Dao Street in the Old Quarter’s north section. The very first building was built in 1889 by one of Hanoi’s lakes. It is a street market spread over approximately six hundred square meters and occupying half of the street.

Fifty businesses are managing the forty food stands, tour packages, artifacts and souvenirs. If you want a place to shop in and at the same time walk a historical timeline, this is the place for you. The large multi-floored market sells everything you could ever think of and more - fresh food, home appliances and everything in between.

Historical significance of these roads is from the fierce battle between the French and the Vietnamese in 1947. The market is the basis of combining two different markets, the Cau Dong and the Bach Ma on the shores of To River. It was positioned in the Don Xuan Ward area with five steel-framed roofs each 53 meters long and 19 meters high providing an area for hundreds of goods.

Nearby hotels and accommodations include Hong Ngoc 1 Hotel, Majestic Salute Hotel, Sofitel Plaza Hotel, Melia Hanoi Hotel, Movenpick Hotel, Zephyr Hotel and Sofitel Metropole Hotel.
