The air is a little sweeter in Cologne, Germany and it is not the scent of men's cologne. Noses sniff near the Cologne Cathedral taking in the delicious smell of chocolate. Once where shippers on the Rhine River anchored and reloaded during medieval times, the Chocolate Museum of Cologne now pumps the air full of sweet and delicious chocolate along with its rich history.

Chocolate lover Dr. Hans Imhoff founded the Museum in 1993. Dr. Imhoff served as a chairman on the governing body of the Stollwerk chocolate factory before bringing his museum dedicated to chocolate to the city of Cologne.

The Chocolate Museum Cologne showcases not only the past and present of chocolate and cocoa, but also highlights current developments in the great field of chocolate.

The Museum offers tours of its production area, along with rooms showing the history of chocolate, chocolate advertising, and an entire section dedicated to cult chocolate classics. Among those cult favorites include Milka, Nutella, and the Lindt bunny. On site, a chocolate fountain spouts out 200kg of liquid chocolate.

Visitors can also stop in the Chocolate Museum's café for a decadent treat or purchase some chocolate to take home. The chocolate shop sells products from renowned traditional companies such as Lindt, Sarotti, Hachez, Gubor, and Rausch.

Tours cost 7.50 Euros per adult. The Chocolate Museum of Cologne remains open Tuesday through Friday from 10AM to 6PM. On the Weekends, visitors can stop by for a tour anywhere from 11AM until 7PM.
