Church of All Nations is erected next to the Garden of Gethsemane at the foot of Mount Olives. The site on which it stands is believed to be where Jesus spent his contemplative moments on the eve of his arrest.

Also known as the Basilica of the Agony, the church impresses with its monolithic columns, cupolas with gold ceilings and a mosaic on its façade showing Christ as the intercessor between man and God. The twelve cupolas represent the countries that helped built this religious building from 1919 to 1924, hence the name Church of All Nations.

The surroundings of the church present a wonderful backdrop of olive groves, some of which date back to the ancient times. The mountain slopes offer a breathtaking picture that inspires contemplation, as what Jesus did on that fateful night. The Church of All Nations stands of the foundations of two earlier churches, a Crusader chapel from the 12th century and a Byzantine basilica of the 4th century.

It is run by the Franciscans, and is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Sunday masses are held at 6:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and at 4 p.m. Weekday masses are scheduled at 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. For better sightseeing prospects, staying at any of the hotels like Mount of Olives Hotel, Arches Hotel and Commodore Hotel is a good option.
