Cinergy Field, which opened in 1970, was located on the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally known as Riverfront Stadium, it was the old home of two sports teams, the Cincinnati Reds National League baseball and the Cincinnati Bengals National Football League. This multipurpose, circular stadium, was one of many dual-use football-and-baseball stadiums built in the United States during this time period. In its heyday, it hosted five World Series and two All-Star Games.

This monument of Cincinnati history was torn down in 2002 to make way for the new Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. This new testament to modern sports history now stands next to the Great American Ball Park, which was built recently as the new home of baseball in the Cincinnati area.
