Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Hotels near Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal, Canada .

Located on a small island adjacent to the island housing the city of Montreal, Canada, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a city street racing circuit that is the venue of the F1 Canadian Grand Prix and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, as well as recently the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The circuit was opened officially (to great local expectations) back in 1978, and there is a seating capacity for spectators of roughly 100,000. The length of the circuit itself is measured at 2.71 miles in total.

The small man-made island is, during non-competition times of the year, a tranquil park area where locals go for jogging and workout sessions, very quiet--the complete opposite of what it becomes during competitions. Though the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve circuit was recently removed from the official Formula 1 calendar of events, there have apparently been negotiations to return this prestigious track back on board by 2010. To find out about upcoming events and ticket availability, visit the official Circuit Gilles Villeneuve circuit website at http://www.circuitgillesvilleneuve.ca/en/. Similarly, read up on this destination at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_Gilles_Villeneuve.

To find accommodations during one's stay close to the circuit, people must hop back onto the main island of Montreal, where they will discover the Auberge Du Vieux Port, the Hotel Nelligan, and the Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel, among many other options present in the vicinity.
