Circuito del Jarama is a permanent circuit located in Alcobendas, Spain. This circuit is also known as the Circuito Permanente del Jarama or the Permanent circuit of Jarama. The race course is 3.404 kilometers (2.115 mile) in length. The Circuito del Jarama was the host of nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. It is created by John Hugenholtz, the designer of Suzuka and Zandvoort and built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967.
The history of Circuito del Jarama tells that it was located north of Madrid in a parched land when it was built in 1967. The race course was short and straight and the course comprised stiff and winding corners which made overtaking exceedingly complicated. This circuit was the host of the F1 race in 1981, headed by Alessandro Rocci. Later, no F1 races were hosted there because of the narrow tracks. However, it hosts motorcycle and sports car races at times. The Circuito Permanente del Jarama is included in the Race Driver: GRID from Codemasters, 2008 video game and in Grand Prix Legends.
Circuito del Jarama measures 3850 meters with 12 meters wide. It also features vertical mounting and downward slopes. It also features banked turnings. Other facilities of the circuit include spacious parking space and numerous boxes. The circuit is provided with Alfano's magnetic strip which allows the use of lap timer Alfano Fun - Pro Astro and stop watch. One can use them without inserting infrared emitters.
