City Hall of San Francisco opened in 1915. One of the central architectural prizes of the San Francisco area, it is notable for its size (totaling over 500,000 square feet and occupying two full blocks) and design. Its rotunda is a spectacular space both inside and out.

San Francisco’s City Hall is the site of a number of historically significant events, including the assassination of Harvey Milk in 1978 and the wedding of Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe in 1954. It has also appeared in a number of films including Raiders of the Lost Ark and Dirty Harry.

Area visitors will not want to miss a chance to check out this San Francisco landmark. The San Francisco City Hall Docent Tour Program provides tours throughout the year to the public, taking place Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Reservations are required for groups of eight or more.
