Citypark Nuremberg
Citipark Nuremberg is a parrk in Nuremberg, Germany. The city park in Nuremberg is one of about 19 hectares of green space in the northern Nurenberg. It is linked to a historical area of Nuremberg thanks its former name Judenbühl.
Early beginnings of a park can be dated around the year 1759. After 1855 until about 1882, it was named Maxfeld, before the area was known since 1349 as Judenbühl.
City Park and City Park restaurant were devastated after the Second World War. Under Garden Director Kurt Ahles in 1958, a draft was drawn up and implemented to reorganize the park. The park received a new, modern look. It emerged garden courtyards, a Rose Hill and a new city garden restaurant and on the edge of the park and a children playground. The historic main routes to this system were changed almost beyond recognition. In 1962, the Neptune Fountain in the west of the city park pond got its preliminary final site.
Important sites in the park are: the Neptune Fountain, Schiller Monument (opened in 1909), Faun with Frog-in one of the garden courtyards stands an art man-made bronze statue of Faun, who teases a frog or Stadtpark Vases - in 1891 it was established the first of the park vases. It is reminiscent of the 1st German Song Festival 1861 in Maxfeld. The second vase, its counterpart, was erected in 1896 to commemorate the first national exhibition of 1882.
Local accommodation is available at hotels like Nestor Hotel Nuremberg, Hilton Hotel Nuremberg or Nestor Hotel Nuremberg with starting prices from 70 Euros.
