Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (the "City of the Arts and the Sciences" in Valencia, Spain, is considered to be the most important modern tourist destination in that city.
This cultural and architectural complex was built from 1996 to 1998.
The complex consists of eight buildings, including an Imax Cinema, Planetarium and Laserium called L'Hemisfèric; an interactive museum of science that looks like a dinosaur's skeleton called El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe; a landscaped walk with indigenous plant species called L'Umbracle; L'Oceanogràfic, an open-air oceanographic park; an opera house/performing arts center called El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía; a bridge connecting the south side of the complex with Minorca street, El Puente de l'Assut de l'Or, also the highest point in the city of Valencia; L'Àgora, a covered plaza hosting concerts and sporting events; and the Valencia Towers, part of a project that will construct three skyscrapers.
