Argentina's first civic center, the Civic Centre opened its doors in 1940 and was declared a National Monument 40 years later. The building itself was made from cypress wood, brought down from the surrounding meetings, and stones that were also from the nearby mountains. The building also includes Town Hall, with its striking clock tower.

The Civic Centre has a small museum along with many administrative buildings, and is open daily. A number of hotels are nearby, including Kenton Palace Hotel, Hotel Tres Reyes, and the Carlos V Hotel.
