Twenty miles east of the famed Las Vegas Strip, the Clark County Heritage Museum is dedicated to commemorating the long and colorful history of Las Vegas and its surrounding cities and communities. Opened in 1949 in an abandoned military barracks, the museum examines the history of southern Nevada from prehistoric times up to present-day Las Vegas.

Notable exhibits of the Clark County Heritage Museum include the Anna Roberts Parks Exhibit, including a timeline taking visitors from prehistoric times, when the area was submerged under water, to the times of the Anazai Indians, to the arrival of western settlers, and Heritage Street, which includes restored buildings from all over Nevada. Also of note is the gaming exhibit, which includes an 1898 Dewy Slot Machine, made almost entirely of wood, as well as antique roulette wheels, poker tables, and photographs of an almost deserted Las Vegas Strip.

The Clark County Heritage Museum is located at 1820 South Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada. Parking is available on-site, and the museum is open daily, from 9 A.M. until 4:30 P.M.
