Located between 43rd and 45th Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Clark Park is one of the city's oldest and most beloved public parks. The name of the park pays homage to a prominent city banker, Clarence Howard Clark, who donated the land on which the park is situated in 1894. The Saterjee Hospital, one of the largest of the Union Army during the Civil War, was located on the land that now makes up part of Clark Park. Perhaps one of the most well known features of the park today is the “bowl”, a pond that was covered by a cistern in the late 1800s.
