One of the most distinctive buildings on Toronto's skyline used to be the tallest building in the entire world. Today, the CN Tower remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole city, and stands as the tallest building in all of the Americas at 1,815 feet above the city streets.

Built in the 1970s, the CN Tower is both an observation tower and a communications tower. It is known as one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, and offers impressive views of downtown Toronto. The most popular spot for tourists is the tower's main pod, which allows visitors to view Toronto from 1,135 feet off of the ground. The higher sky pod is also a public observation deck, from which it's possible to see all the way across the border to New York, as well as to the famous Niagara Falls.

In addition to the two observation decks, the CN Tower also has a restaurant, called the 360 Restaurant, with incredible views and modern cuisine. A number of radio and television stations use the tower to broadcast their signals, and the tower is also well known for its distinctive LED lights display, which changes colors depending on the programming.

The CN Tower is open to the public daily, except on Christmas Day, with hours varying according to the seasons. Usually, general access is from nine in the morning until ten at night, with the observation levels open a half-hour later on weekends.

A number of downtown Toronto hotels are just a short distance from the CN Tower, including Le Germain Toronto, the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel, and the InterContinental Toronto Centre. Many other hotels also have breathtaking views of the tower from their rooms.
