The Colima Airport, officially called the Licenciado Miguel de la Madrid Airport, is located in Colima – one of the oldest cities in Mexico. In the western part of Mexico, it was founded in 1523 by conquistador Gonzalo de Sandoval (though it was later moved to another area due to poor settlement conditions). The Colima Airport serves national air traffic for the city of Colima and handles domestic flights to and from Mexico City. Though it is not necessarily the best-known Mexico tourism destination, Colima is a beautiful place to visit with vast pyramids and unique nature. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from Mexico City by plane, the Colima Airport is the portal to an interesting part of Mexico.
