Founded in 1898, the Colorado Chautauqua is the only Chautauqua west of the Mississippi River that has remained continually in use since the height of the Chautauqua Movement in the early part of the 20th century. It is located in Boulder, Colorado and, as of 2006, has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The non-profit Texas-Colorado Chautauqua Association hosts lectures, silent films, and musical performances throughout the year on the 26 acre property. The original buildings remain on the property and are used for a variety of purposes including: guest lodging, administrative offices, and an auditorium. Within the property lies a park called the Chatauqua Green, which is open to the public without an entry fee. While in the past it was referred to as Texado Park, locals usually use the term "Chautauqua" to describe the entire property.
