Just a block south of the Colorado State Capitol, the Colorado History Museum allows visitors to experience hundreds of years’ worth of history in the Rocky Mountain State. From the mountain life of the Ute Indians to the journeys of pioneers on their way west, and from the silver and lead mining booms in present-day ski resorts to early life in Denver, since 1977, the Colorado History Museum has provided visitors access to one of the largest collections of historic and prehistoric artifacts in the State.

Exhibits include Denver at 150 Years Old, Ancient Voices: Stories of Colorado’s Distant Past, and Allen’s True West (works of Allen True), amongst others. In addition to the museum and its affiliated education programs, the Colorado History Museum also serves as the home of the Colorado Historical Society, as well as the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation. The Museum is a short walk from the Denver Public Library, Colorado Convention Center, and the Denver Mint.

Centrally located in downtown Denver at 1300 Broadway, the Colorado History Museum directs visitors to parking facilities one block south, at 12th Avenue and Broadway. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 A.M. until 5 P.M., and Sunday from noon until 5 P.M. Admission is free for all visitors during a remodeling phase, scheduled to end in April of 2010.
