The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum focuses on the achievements and travails of the community living in the Pikes Peak Region, all the way since the beginning of settlement. Pikes Peak is the imposing mountain that overlooks the city, and the 1859 gold rush that engulfed the area at its base was in large part responsible for the burst of pioneerism in this area of Colorado.
