Commerzbank-Arena is a famous football stadium located in Frankfurt, Germany. It is also known as the Waldstadion and offers 52,300 seats. It hosts Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga.
The Commerzbank-Arena was inaugurated in 1925 and used for political assemblies of the Nazi Party during World War II. Later, in July 2005, the stadium was named "Commerzbank-Arena". People called it "FIFA WM Stadion Frankfurt" during the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Today, the stadium is reconstructed and many changes have been incorporated to give it a modern look. It is considered as one of the largest stadiums in Germany. It has also hosted some of the major events like 2005 Confederations Cup finale and 2006 FIFA World Cup.
The present features of the Waldstadion include a closed roof which prevents the consequences of the shadow. Besides games, the stadium hosted some musical shows and concerts by Céline Dion, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, U2 and other famous artists as well. It has also served as the home ground for 2nd Bundesliga side SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Bornheim based club FSV Frankfurt and NFL Europe's Frankfurt Galaxy.
The arena also accommodates 50,300 spectators for football, 48,500 spectators for American football and 55,000 spectators for concerts. There are 4 cubicles which are used as hanging rooms. The highest seat is 32m above the pitch and the football pitch is 68m x 105m in area. The underground car park includes 1,800 parking spaces.
