The Vancouver Island facility known as the Comox Valley Airport is a commercial airport paired with the Canadian Forces Base Comox air force facility. Constructed by the Royal Air Force in 1942, its original purpose was to guard against any possible Japanese threat to North America. Today a number of international commercial airlines fly to and from the civilian airfield, or Comox Valley Airport, including Canadian North, Canjet, Central Mountain Air, Pacific Coastal Airlines, Sunwing Airlines operated by Aeromexico, and WestJet- to locations around Canada and, recently added, Mexico. Comox boasts the longest runway on Vancouver Island, and has one state-of-the-art terminal.

The Comox Valley Airport offers parking from $7 for 24 hours and from $42 per week, or temporary metered parking in drive through lanes or lots for up to one hour. Travelers have several options for general transportation from the airport including taxis, the E&N rail train which travels from Courtenay to Victoria, the local BC Transit bus, or Greyhound bus lines. Also available are shuttles from Ambassador Shuttle Service, and Sky High Shuttle Service Ltd, or pre-booking required shuttle companies like Island Chauffeurs.
