Connewitz is an area of Leipzig, Germany.
Until its inauguration in 1891 the city was a separate town. Today Connewitz is under the format of an urban district in the Southern District Leipzig. Connewitz has a surface area of 7.15 square kilometers and was on 31 December 2007 16.144 Einwohner. With a large share of the Leipzig floodplain forest Connewitz is considered the most forested districts of Leipzig. In terms of urban development and as for the social composition of the population is Connewitz a very diverse district of Leipzig.
Connewitz is located about three kilometers south of Leipzig's city center. The area includes bottomland forest areas and the former east of it, and higher up to ten meters located near Feldflur. Only this area is cultivated.
The boundaries of the suburb area are in the north of Schleussig way to Wundtstraße and Richard-Lehmann-Strasse. Eastern and southeastern boundaries are the railway line Bayerischer Bahnhof-Markkleeberg. In the south are the built-up areas of Markkleeberg border. But here there are a few short blocks on the so called Wolfswinkel Connewitz in an isolated situation in the area. To the west it follows the railway line Plagwitz-Markkleeberg and Hochflutbettes to the western embankment of the magpie and to the west bank of the Ester flood bed. The neighboring districts are from the north clockwise to Südvorstadt, Marienbrunn, Lößnig, Dolitz - dozing, and Markkleeberg.
