Connolly Hospital is one of public university and teaching hospital located in Ireland. The hospital was founded as asylum to treat the patients suffering from tuberculosis during 1955. Currently the hospital is run by Health Service Executives from Ireland and currently serving over 290,000 peoples.

In addition to teaching Connolly Hospital provides variety of services including acute psychiatric, day care, acute medical service, long stay care, surgical services, diagnostic, support services and out patient services. While emergency services are provides on all 365 days of a year and for twenty four hours. The hospital opens up it service at 7.45am in morning and serves till 12.15pm.

The rampant disease called Tuberculosis lead to constructions of several specialist medical centres through out the country. While the Connolly Hospital served for the purpose till advent of effective antibiotic treatments during 1960 to till 1970. During 1973, it was termed as General Hospital especially for Dublin’s North-West region.

In 1980, several fabricated buildings were added into hospitals which in turn allowing more beds. These buildings remained attached to old buildings but later they were removed as a result of upgrade and expansion developments in 1995. The hospital contains over 242 beds for in-patients and nearly 29 day bed for outpatients according to survey held in May, 2007.

Connolly Hospital acts as a training institute for professionals of allied health, nursing and medical services alongside with other institutions including Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin Institute of Technology, University College Dublin and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
