Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate

Hotels near Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate, Cape Town, South Africa .

Cape Town is known for producing the finest wines for how many years. One of the main wine estates in the city is Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate or the Constantia View. It used to be the home of the Lategan family for at least 5 generations. The ancestors of the family is said to have arrived in the country in 1735 and have settled in the area.

The estate is actually a portion of Simon van der Stel’s original estate called Groot Constantia. This is why there are other wine estates that have “Constantia” appended to the names.

It was in 1988 when the farm was bought by David and Marlene McCay, and with their efforts, they have done everything they could to restore the farm to its former glory. Now, Constantia Uitsig has reclaimed its name by producing award winning wines as well as three world known restaurants and other expansions to its name.
