The Constitución Railway Station in beautiful and historic Buenos Aires, Argentina, has a long and illustrious history. Located in the Barrio Consitución, just two blocks from the world-famous Obelisk monument, construction began on the Station in 1864. The British-owned Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway opened in 1865, with routes leading as far away as Chascomús. In the early 1900s, the station was renovated and enlarged, and eventually in the 1920s a foundation stone for the current station was laid by the Duke of Windsor. Today, two transportation companies serve this station; UGOFE and Ferrobaires. The former offers commuter services between Buenos Aires, the city of La Plata, and surrounding suburbs. The second is publicly owned and offers trains going further distances, as far as Mar del Plata and Bahia Blanca. All trains heading south on the Roca line end at Constitución, and you can also access the station via Metro Line C and numerous city buses.
