The Contemporary Art Museum of San Juan, Puerto Rico was founded in 1984. The result of a collaboration of both artists and patrons, it is a forum for local artists to display their work. The Museo Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) officially belongs to the people of Puerto Rico and houses art from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Latin America from 1940 to the present.

Located at Sacred Heart University in San Juan, MAC holds several exhibitions, social gatherings and events throughout the year. Museum administrators try to preserve close ties to the community, rendering the institution not only a tourist attraction but also a community education tool.
