Coombe Women’s Hospital is one of the hospitals which offer variety of medical services for both infants and women. This hospital is located in Dublin City, Ireland and was founded in 1826 by Mrs. Margaret Boyle. The hospital is managed by Hospital Service Executives.

At first the hospital was a part of Meath Hospital situated in Liberties region, Dublin. During 1829 it was renamed as “Coombe Lying-in Hospital” which was located on Heytesbury Street and it was granted royal charter during 1867. This allowed the hospital to receive private and public funds. Hundred years later the hospital was relocated to Dolphin’s Barn. In 1993 it was renamed as “Coombe Women’s Hospital”.

It is regarded on one largest healthcare provides for infants and women’s in Europe. In addition the hospital provides one of biggest gynaecological service provider in Ireland. While the medical students from other three medical training schools located in Dublin, attend this hospital as regulatory part of their Medical Undergraduate Programme.

On January 1st, 2008 the hospital was renamed as Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital reflecting the importance and complexity of academic and clinical activities held in hospital campus. However after several name changes it is best known to common peoples as “The Coombe”. The hospital is country’s busiest maternity and pre-natal hospitals delivering over 8,500 babies in a year. It also incorporates new technologies prevailing all over the world to provide best medical services to the patients irrespective of their stay period in hospital.
