A neighborhood so famous that it has a song about it, when most people think of Copacabana, they're thinking about the famous stretch of beach that draws more tourists to Rio every year than any other part of town. Located in the southern half of the city, Copacabana is a beautiful and picturesque stretch of white sand, blue sea and sky, and palm trees. It gets absolutely packed during the vacation months, and many of the city's hostels and hotels are located in the neighborhood.

Along the beach runs the Copacabana promenade, with its numerous Brazilian restaurants, cafes, and different nightclubs that pulse nightly with either electro house beats or traditional samba. It is one of the fastest-growing spots in Rio, despite being so popular with tourists, and the beach deserves all of the praise it gets, for it truly is beautiful.

In addition to its bustling nightlife scene with club music, Copacabana is popular for attraction big-name musicians who want to have beach-side concerts. Some of the famous internationals who have played there include the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, and Lenny Kravitz.

Travelers can get to Copacabana via three of the different subway lines and almost 40 of the city's bus routes, but for those who plan on spending most of their time at the beach, it's even better to just rent a room at one of the popular hotels or hostels.
