One of the most famous beaches in the world, Copacabana Beach is a four kilometer stretch of ocean in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil situated between the Leme and Ipanema neighborhoods of the city. The beach itself begins at posto, or lifeguard tower two, and continues to posto seis (tower six), with the famous Copacabana Promenade stretching the entire length of the beach, and hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs lining its entirety.

The beach is extremely popular with tourists, with as many as 63 hotels and 10 hostels in the immediate vicinity. Numerous special events take place on Copacabana Beach, the most notable of which is the annual New Year’s Eve party, which draws thousands of party goers dressed in white, silver, and gold.

Copacabana Beach is in Zona Sul of Rio de Janeiro, between Princesa Isabel Avenue and Posto Seis on the beach.
