When it comes to shopping, Boston actually does more than just hold its own. Newbury Street has a number of great boutiques as well as designer stores, including Marc Jacobs and Camper. And the city's large shopping malls in downtown are packed with exclusive brands.

One of the most popular spots to shop 'til you drop in the city is Copley Place Boston, located downtown near Copley Square in the Back Bay neighborhood. Rather than the usual collection of mid-range mall stores, Copley Place has a number of upscale stores, including Tiffany & Co, David Yurman, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Salvatore Ferragamo. It's only a short walk to its twin indoor mall, The Shops at Prudential Center. The two indoor shopping malls are connected by an indoor bridge that goes right over Huntington Avenue, a godsend in those cold, dreary New England months.

Getting to Copley Place Boston is easy, especially by the T, since the Back Bay station is actually connected through a tunnel. A number of taxis are usually out front, if you ended up with too many purchases to lug them back to your hotel room alone. A number of hotels in the downtown area aren't just close to the hotel, but are practically attached. Among them are upscale chains Westin Copley Place and The Copley Place Marriott. For a hotel that's more independent, there's the Copley Square Hotel that's only a couple of blocks away.
