Cornel Ruiz Airport (CIX) is the small airport just east of Chiclayo in northern Peru. Founded as a town along an important trade route by Spanish missionaries, Chiclayo is a stop in the north of Peru for those going off the beaten track.

Two daily flights to Lima are offered by LAN (one in late morning, one in early evening). LAN’s flight to Piura leaves Chiclayo at 8:30 AM. Star Peru flies to Lima at 7 AM and 5 PM daily. There is a small departure tax when leaving the airport (around $4 US).

Taxi service is available in the airport, as well as extensive buses for touring around the area. Ask taxi drivers for the terminal.
