The Country Music Hall of Fame is more than a simple museum that happens to honor big-names in country music: it's an institution for many music fans around the country, thousands of whom have made their own special journeys to Nashville and stop at the museum to find out more about the history of their heroes.

Established in the 1960s, The Country Music Hall of Fame has grown and changed over the years, growing with the genre itself. It is one part history museum, one part arts organization, and one part notable piece of architecture. The museum was built to display pieces of Nashville history, but also to showcase those members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, too.

Located a short walk from the bustle of Music Row in Nashville's downtown area, the museum today gives visitors a chance to view rare clips of performers, listen to hard-to-find singles, as well as a way to look at photographs and other parts of the genre and the city's history. There are also a number of live music performances each year.

The Country Music Hall of Fame is open daily from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon. It is closed on major holidays, and on Tuesdays during the months of January and February.
