Nestled in the seaside village of Rosses Point, just northwest of the city of Sligo, County Sligo Golf club is famous worldwide and throughout Ireland for its picturesque views, historical interest, and top-of-the-line facilities. Surrounded by endless grassy fields, legendary valleys and breath-taking rock formations, with the Atlantic Ocean to the west, it's no wonder that the scenic landscape once captured the imaginations of world-famous poet and Nobel Prize winner W.B. Yeats and his nephew, landscape painter Jack B. Yeats. When their brother and uncle, Henry Middleton, first founded the Country Sligo Golf Club in 1894, the course had only 9 holes. It has since grown into a spacious 27-hole complex with a large and stately clubhouse where notable guests gather from all over the world. Visitors are greeted by golfing professional Jim Robinson and his staff, and a traditional Irish bar and bistro are available for refreshments. Membership is available, but not required for short visits. If you time your visit just right, you may be able to catch international competitions at this course such as Carr Mara Trophy and Home Internationals, or the domestic West of Ireland Championship, held every Easter.

There are no accommodations on site, but a large variety of options abound nearby, some less than a kilometer away. High-end hotels include the Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa and Hotel, Yeats Country Hotel, Clarion Hotel, The Glasshouse, Castle Dargan Hotel and Sligo City Hotel. For those who prefer to experience Irish hospitality on a more person level, there are several small Bed & Breakfasts in Rosses Point. Clarion Village and Markree Castle Apartments are also available for those who prefer self-service accommodations.
