World famous for feeding wild Rainbow Lorikeets to its huge free-flying flocks of birds, the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a wide variety of events which include dingo encounters, bird shows which features birds at free flight and crocodile feedings of the park’s extra large saltwater crocodile. Behind the scenes, veterinary and rehabilitation hospitals tend to sick and injured animals brought in every day.

The sanctuary first opened as the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary in 1947 by Alex Griffiths in an attempt to stop the local lorikeets from destroying his flowers. To this day, lorikeets flock to the sanctuary to be fed twice a day by visitors. Currently housing the biggest collections of Native Australian Species in the world, the sanctuary features a reptile house, Tasmanian Devils, an aviary visitors can walk through and a miniature railway.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Christmas Day when the park is closed. At 7 p.m., the park reopens for its Wildnight Adventure. Wildnight Adventure bookings must be made before 3:45 p.m. the same day.
