Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport serves international flight services in Dakar, Senegal. It is located north of Dakar, near the city area called Yoff. It was then known as Dakar Yoff International Airport. Name was changed on October 9, 1996 in honor of former president of Senegal, Léopold Sédar Senghor.

Reviews on the airport expressed good customer service and offers better airport equipment compared to other aviation hubs in other parts of West Africa. It can handle several aircrafts even as big as Boeing 747 and can serve more than 2 million passenger activities. It also has cafes, restaurants, malls, ATM’s and a business center inside the terminal itself.

Historical records revealed that the airport was the link to the United States Army Air force Air Transport Command for the Natal to Dakar route. In 1942, the airport served the transport of goods between French West Africa and Brazil. It also became a landing site for a Space Shuttle until a crack was discovered along the runway and could damage the shuttle when landing.

On December 4, 2006, the popular Delta Air Lines opened its services in Dakar International Airport. Flights travelled between Johannesburg, South Africa and Atlanta, USA. Since then it became the only airport in the African continent to serve a major U.S. airline.
