The Dalmeny House in Edinburgh, Scotland may have been built in 1817, but it contains artifacts dating back to the 16th century. Its main rooms are open to the public a few months out of the year, highlighting the home's library, hall, drawing room, dining room, porcelain collection, and Napoleon artwork and artifacts.

The home belonged to the Earls of Rosebery, and to this day, houses members in the family's lineage. With the backdrop of parkland overlooking the Firth of Forth west of Edinburgh, it is easy to see why the Dalmeny House has even been a popular site for film locations.

What makes the Dalmeny House truly unique may be its exterior. Designed by William Wilkins, university friend of the 4th Earl of Rosebery, the structure signaled a departure in Scottish Architecture. The home sits in Tudor Gothic style, more reminiscent of 16th century English mansions.

Tours of the Dalmeny house are only offered a few months out of the year as generations of the family still reside in the home. From May 24th through July 28th, guided tours are given from Sunday through Tuesday, 2:15PM to 3:30PM. A guided tour of the property costs 6 Euros per adult. The House is positioned just 2 miles from the Dalmeny train station and 5 miles for the Edinburgh Airport.
