Damascus Gate is one of the important landmarks located in Jerusalem. Also known as Nablus Gate or Shechem Gate, this landmark is a significant gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. The modern gate was built by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1542. The original gate however was presumed to be built in Second Temple time, and was then rebuilt by the Romans during the second century AD.

Many tourists visiting Jerusalem often visit Damascus Gate because of its historical significance as well as the beauty of its structure. It has two towers that are equipped with machicolations. The stairs descend towards the gate which provides an interesting view and architectural design.
