Dancehouse Theatre

Dancehouse Theatre is a theatre located in Manchester, U.K.
The building which now houses the Dancehouse Theatre was originally designed as two large meeting halls over a parade of shops. Before the halls were completed inside, they were converted into two cinemas called The Regal Twins. These were modified in the 1960s to a five screen complex before closing in the 1980s.

One previous 750 seat cinema was adapted to give birth to the Dancehouse Theatre, officially opened in 1994 by HRH Princess Margaret. The other four cinemas and other areas of the building were made into the five dance studios and linked facilities that now house The Northern Ballet School.

The Dancehouse Theatre complex spreads over 35,000 square feet and holds the theatre, three medium and two large dance studios, all fully equipped to meet the highest standards, changing rooms, showers, a Green Room, a licensed Cafe Bar, Theatre Bar and Coffee Shop.
The £500,000 cost of converting the theatre was largely raised from donations from the Foundation for Sport and the Arts, the Arts Council of England and many other generous subscribers to the companies development program.

Conveniently situated on Oxford Road in central Manchester, opposite the northern headquarters of the BBC, the Dancehouse has good access to the local bus, rail and tram networks. Nearest car parks are located on Charles St or Whitworth St.
Nearest train station is Oxford Road Station and most buses into Manchester town centre stop directly outside the theatre.
Also, the nearest Metrolink stop is at St Peter's Square, approximately 600m along Oxford Road from the theatre.
